Easily rivaling the 2004 Boston Red Sox overcoming a 3-0 series deficit to defeat their hated rivals.
Maybe it was like the New England Patriots plugging a 25-point deficit to triumph in overtime in last years Super Bowl.
What the Gators did last night was nothing short of amazing. Being down 7-1 after the first period, the Gators marched on. On a night where everything was going in their net, they stayed true to their lineup and each played their roles to cap off a 8-7 win vs Dragon Club.
“We know we have a powerful lineup. When we go to the net and present havoc there, we are a tough team to play against. Net drives and net front presence is what turned this game around for us” said forward Jon “Hells Bells” Bellonio.
This is the second game in a row where Dragon Club jumped out to an early lead. In the previous meeting they scored 5 straight goals before the first period ended, finding them up 5-2. Last night they were up by 6 and 7-1 after the first frame.
In total, Dragon Club has outscored the Gators 12 to 3 in the first periods but the Gators have finished strong outscoring DC 16 to 2 in the remaining periods. Of course leading to 2 wins for Gang Green
It should be a rule or something. Don’t take the first shift of the game off, the Gators will score on it’s first shot.
Oooops. 1-0 lead 19 seconds in.
Like I said, it should be a rule. All it did was start the engines of Scott McDougall and Bryan Leitch as they combined for 9 goals and 12 assists.
“It seems like we have tried everything to let these guys know. From posting lineup cards with current statistics, to online posts, and even pictures of us with the Cup. The Gators will always be ready to go, regardless who is in net and how big the roster is” said Jon Bellonio.
The Gators are now 2-0 early in the SCHL Pro-Am Summer 2017 season and have an early lead on the scoring championship.
“We tried to keep it simple tonight and only score when we needed to. There were a few open net opportunities that were strategically placed to the side of the net” added Keith Buehler.
Rookie goalie back up Sean Keegans made his Gators deput and pushed aside 31 shots.

Congratulations to Bryan Leitch who scored his 500th assist in the SCHL. Leitch is currently 3rd on the all time league scoring leaders.
